what is klife

KLIFE is a community-wide, interdenominational Christian ministry of discipleship and fellowship for youth and their families. Through a variety of activities (klubs, small group Bible studies, retreats, and monthly events), KLIFE kids grow in their faith and have lots of fun in the process. They learn that following Christ and discovering His plan for their life is the most exciting adventure of all and that they can count on friendship and support from leaders and peers who care.

KLIFE works alongside churches and families in the community to teach and encourage kids to be strong in the Lord in spite of all the negative pressures they face as teenagers. KLIFE networks kids from different churches, and those without a church affiliation, to build positive, Godly relationships that can withstand the negative peer pressure so prevalent in today’s youth culture.

The heartbeat of KLIFE lies in the ability to build relationships with kids and bring the content of God’s word to bear on those relationships. Our desire is that kids would choose to participate in one of our small groups led by our staff and volunteer leaders. The purpose of these groups is for kids to gain a greater knowledge of God’s word, build Godly relationships with peers, and have access to a mentoring leader to come alongside them as they navigate those difficult adolescent years. Supporting and surrounding our small group strategy are the more visible components of our ministry: weekly klub meetings, activities, events, and retreats. Weekly meetings consist of songs, games, skits, and talks that contain a lesson with a relevant life application from the Bible.

2018 bowl for the soul fundraiser

Norman KLIFE is hosting the Bowl for the Soul fundraiser event Sunday, February 25th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sooner Bowling Lanes.  All funds raised through Bowl for the Soul will ensure we continue this incredible ministry to youth in Norman. We are looking for bowlers, teams of bowlers, and donors to sponsor the tournament. Put together a team ($20 per bowler, 4-6 bowlers), sponsor a lane, sponsor the entire event, or just come for the awesome silent auction and $2/spin prize wheel!!  Competitors will be vying for awards including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, last place, most spirited (think costumes and strike dances!), top adult and youth bowler, and 7/10 split contest. Welcome our new KLIFE Leadership!

grant Shewey | Chapter director

Grant is from Kansas and graduated from Tabor College in 2015.  He has served on summer leadership staff at Kanakuk K2, Camp Barnabas, and most recently was the Chapter Director for Omaha KLIFE.  He has also served on international mission teams to Haiti, Thailand and Belize.  He finds great joy in leading others in ways that glorify God and seeks to put Jesus front and center of all ministry activities.  He is highly relational and has been told he has the gifts of mercy and leadership.  He has a passion for serving and looks forward to incorporating this into the Norman KLIFE model.  With experience leading students from elementary to high school, Grant will be a great addition to the Norman community as he seeks to build relationships leading to discipleship and spiritual growth.  Grant and his wife, Lauren, have one daughter, Addi.

"Grant is one of the most devoted men I have ever met. He is loyal to the core"               -Joe White, President of Kanakuk Kamp

Meredith Stair | Women's director

Meredith is from Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas A & M University in 2016.  She most recently completed the Kanakuk Institute (a nine month Biblical Studies program) and has served on Kanakuk Kamp Out staff for four years. Past experience includes working with CASA: Voices for Children, Inc., and volunteering with the Baptist Student Ministry in college.  She believes that ministry should always be gospel centered and relational- pointing to Christ and centering around his ministry and how He loved others. She has a passion for teaching others that the Bible is alive and active and is an amazing story of God's redemptive love for His people. We are excited for Meredith to join the Norman KLIFE team!

small groups

Small Groups are the heartbeat of our ministry and where we believe your student has the greatest opportunity for spiritual growth! Small groups exist to give students the opportunity to be known and loved by their peers and leaders through studying God's Word and having a lot of fun in the process.

Each small group is led by one or two KLIFE volunteers who have a heart for ministry and working with kids. Each volunteer has been through an interview process with a staff member, has received a background check, and has signed a commitment to follow Christ in their own life.

Small group meeting times will be determined by the leader of the group based on when everyone is able to meet. The groups are assembled according first to gender, then by groups of friends. Our hope is to bring groups of kids together to build accountability and Christ-centered relationships.

LIVE is a digital curriculum that gets kids into the Bible and the Bible into kids. LIVE crafted lessons are easily understood, with principles that our leaders can grasp and pass along to students. Plus, the lessons emphasize discussion, dialogue, and meaningful connections among the group.  This allows leaders and students to just enjoy spending time with one another and each will thrive with this curriculum.

Each KLIFE Small Group may use the interactive LIVE Curriculum to help each group be effective and focused. Your KLIFE Staff Director will set you and your group up into the system.
